Car trouble in paradise

car audi

We’ve been so lucky with everything so far EXCEPT our car. Trying to save money by buying a cheap used car instead of renting a car for a year we bought an Audi. It is nice and big, and makes the traffic and all the dangerous mostly illegal mini-buss taxis a little less intimidating. But at a price.. I’ve become quite an expert on car repair shops during the past months.

24000 Rand (22000kr/$3000) – Purchase price.
+ 22000 – repairs..  4 different workshops, towing, 2 rental cars…

Total: 46000 Rand. ($6000). The car is only worth half of that!

Having this car has definitely added excitement and unpredictability to our life – we never know where and when it will break down again.. But it drives nice and it is BIG.

Big so that you can fit all the avocadoes in your trunk? I think your car is breaking down because it does not have a name and is therefore sad.

What would you “Chad” call the car? I like “gamla Bettan”.
